Make your books into a poem – new favorite!Posted: September 21, 2011
The entries in Janet Reid’s Make Your Books Into a Poem contest continue to stun me. Here’s my new favorite from “Kathleen 11-21”:
I attended THE BOYFRIEND SCHOOL
and married A REGULAR GUY
who was JUST MY TYPE,
THE SECOND COMING OF STEVE JOBS.
We bought a home on GOOD HOPE ROAD,
where I taught myself the JOY OF COOKING
and HOW TO MAKE AN AMERICAN QUILT.
It was ALMOST PARADISE.
It was A FALSE SENSE OF WELL BEING.
One Saturday, OUT OF THE BLUE,
I received a call from THE OTHER WIFE,
who said HE WAS HER MAN.
Apparently I couldn’t see THE FOREST FOR THE TREES.
That night I stood under the MILK GLASS MOON
and prayed to OUR LADY OF THE LOST AND FOUND.
Is it not a sin to LIE DOWN IN DARKNESS?
He was DEAD ON SUNDAY,
may he REST IN PIECES.
Now he is STEPPIN’ ON A RAINBOW,
and I am locked up for ALL MY LIFE
following one of THE GREAT TEXAS MURDER TRIALS.
I NEED ALL THE FRIENDS I CAN GET.
Someone, PLEASE DO FEED THE CAT.
